Judith, how did you end up at Libeo?

It's a long story! Initially, I was a scientist with a passion for fashion. After a degree in chemistry and leather engineering school, I did an internship as a leather and textile engineer at LVMH. But I realised that the luxury industry was not really for me. I switched to the retail sector and went to India for a VIE at Auchan as a Quality and Compliance Manager.

As an avid environmentalist, I eventually realised that my values were not compatible with the textile industry, luxury or not. I decided to return to France and retrain. I didn't know where I wanted to work, but one thing was sure: I wanted my work to have meaning.

I joined Ecole 42 and did further training to specialise in the web. During this training, I met Céline, who described Libeo as a company where juniors are trained, encouraged and quickly given responsibility in a caring and open environment. I thought this was what I needed, and I joined Libeo last October!

What do you particularly like in your job today?

What I like most in my job is combining theoretical thinking and applying this thinking. My team and I always think about how we want our code to be structured, then we see how we can use it in the specific case we are dealing with, and finally, we do it!

I never feel like I'm being told what to do "because that's how it is". I also find it very rewarding that my actions have a substantial and immediate impact. I love the idea of being able to unblock a user directly: being able to read the application code, understand where a problem comes from and solve it instantly.

What are the factors that make you flourish at Libeo?

First of all, Libeo is a company that clearly communicates its vision and objectives: we know where we are going, why we are working, and everyone is working towards the same goal. This year, one of our priorities is the development of the UK, and my team is in charge of adapting the platform! Being at the centre of the company's goal can be overwhelming, but it's also exhilarating!

Each team contributes directly to this goal and looks in the same direction. Secondly, Libeo has a very horizontal organisation, where the most senior people help others grow without any hierarchical constraint: it's the desire that motivates us, not pressure. When a manager comments on my work, it is always respectful and on an equal footing. And I am very grateful for how I am accompanied and supported daily.

I look forward to training and helping other Libeons! Finally, and perhaps most importantly for me, I know what my work is for: Libeo has not created a false need - we are responding to a real need, that of business owners who want us to make their lives easier!

future of work

The Future of Work - By Pierre Dutaret

Digital is completely transforming the way people work across the globe and allowing people to become more interconnected. Machine automation takes away the stresses attached to manual labour and boosts productivity, increasing the value of an employee's output. Equally, automation outsources repetitive, time-consuming tasks, enabling employees to adapt and spend time on the things that matter.
